[ Military and Civilian Alphabets ]
|
Abbreviations save
valuable time and provide a common way of communicating with
others. The codes below have been used over the year by
both the military and public service agencies and volunteers to
reduce errors in pronunciation and in passing message
traffic.
NOTE: GMRS radio operations use "plain
language" and do not use "codes" (such as the
"ten" codes used on CB radio or by various public
safety agencies). However, it may be necessary to use
specific "agency codes" when participating with that
agency during a deployment operation. When that operation
is completed, however, GMRS radio operators should only use
plain language during radio transmissions.
